Despacito has broken the record for the most watched video in the history of YouTube.
Despacito was recently named as the most streamed song of all time. But the song has now been crowned with another title.
It is the first video ever to reach 3 billion views.
We all knew this song was destined for greatness the first time we heard it.
Here are some of the records that Despacito has broken on YouTube.
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s hit toppled Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s See You Again as the most-watched video of all time on YouTube.
Before that, Psy’s Gangnam Style held the record for five years.
Will our new favourite be able to beat this?
The video has only been online for seven months, but it has become the first video to reach (and pass) 3 billion views on YouTube.
See You Again also reached this milestone. We are still waiting for a third video to become part of the three billion club.
At the time of writing, Despacito had 3,116,795,894 views.
Despacito is also the most liked video on YouTube. No surprises there though.
Think about it. People all around the world have not been able to stop pressing play when it comes to this song.
So it’s only natural that it would get the most thumbs up on the world’s biggest video site.
It has garnered more than 18 million likes, actually.
